Victorian Heritage Database

The Victorian Heritage Database provides information about heritage places and objects in the state of Victoria. It aggregates listings from the following sources:

  • The Victorian Heritage Register of significant places, objects and historic shipwrecks
  • The Victorian Heritage Inventory of known historical archaeological sites
  • Records of heritage places listed in the Heritage Overlays of 29 of the state's 79 Local Government Authorities
  • Records of non-statutory listings held by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria)
  • Records of non-statutory listings held by the Victorian War Heritage Inventory

Records are fully searchable and include statements of significance, physical descriptions, historical information and photographs.

The Heritage Council of Victoria decides what to include in the Victorian Heritage Register, based on recommendations made by Heritage Victoria. Heritage Victoria also makes recommendations about what to include in the Victorian Heritage Inventory.
