Open Educational Resources (OERs)

About the project

Do you have an idea for an Open Textbook? Not sure where to start? Ready to dive in?

Federation Library is participating in the CAUL OER Collective pilot project, which aims to produce OER Textbooks from Federation academic authors and publish on Pressbooks platform. Our first book A Teachers Guide to Outdoor Education Curriculum: Victorian Edition will be published in early 2024

The OER Collective is designed to walk academic authors and librarians on the path of an open textbook project, offering training, a Community of Practice for academic authors, access to an Open Textbook Grant Program, and assistance along the way.

Can the textbook be an adaptation of an existing open textbook?

The textbook could be a revision on an existing OER modified for your cohort or a brand new text.

How do I get involved?

If you are an academic author interested in the Collective you will be invited to express an EOI for a project very soon. You are welcome to register and join the Collectives' Academic Authors Community of Practice.
