Generative artificial intelligence: Use at University

Information for teaching staff

Building GenAI literacy requires a conscious effort in conversation with your students. Discussion topics might include:

  • Risks & benefits
  • Ethical use, e.g., academic integrity, privacy, bias, copyright
  • Developing targeted and effective prompts
  • Evaluation of the output
  • Talk about how the use of GenAI is aligned with the learning outcomes, including the development of critical thinking skills in authentic assessments.
  •  Expectations & assessment instructions
  • Give them plenty of time to ask questions and practice using the tools in class.

You can also book a Liaison librarian to deliver interactive sessions on AI literacy with your students.
