Federation Library provides access to Australian Standards Online through the Intertek Inform i2i platform. Access is for Federation University staff and students only.
Two users can access (download or view in the online viewer) Australian Standards Online at the same time. If all licences are in use you will have to wait until a licence becomes free to download any standards.
User limits are not activated by browsing Standards in the i2i platform. The limit is only reached when more than two users are downloading or viewing standards via the online viewer.
Intertek Inform provides access to Standards, legislative and property publications; auditing; product and management system certification; supply chain management; compliance, ethics and governance solutions; training and improvement solutions.
Accessing Australian standards requires Acrobat Reader (available in the Software Center for ITS-maintained computers) the default Global Object Security Policy for Adobe Acrobat Reader will also have to be disabled to view downloaded standards. This guide covers the kinds of error messages you may experience when attempting to download Australian Standards.
Ensure you have downloaded a supported PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Downloaded Standards need to be saved to your device. The following error will appear if you attempt to access Standards from the browser recent downloads icon.
Please navigate to your computer Downloads folder and open and/or save the document to your device. It can now be accessed and opened with a compatible PDF viewer.
If you experience the following error message when attempting to view standards downloaded to your computer you may need to disable the default Global Object Security Policy settings in Adobe Acrobat.

Click on the title of the standard you wish to view.
Click yellow Download button.
The document is ready for download when the yellow bar is fully loaded and it says “Ready for download”
Click “Download document”.
If you have already installed Adobe Acrobat your download will begin. If not please install to view your document.
This is the preferred method for viewing and printing standards. The two-user limit is only activated when downloading or viewing standards in the online viewer.
This is the default search screen where you can search on either the standard number, or keywords that appear in the standard’s title.

The i2i platform will auto fill suggested results that you can click on or click the yellow Search button to browse standards.
Click on each filter to narrow your search down to available or useful items, for example:
Click on the title of the standard you wish to view to open the document summary page. You have two options for viewing standards:
Download
Preferred method. Click on the Download button and follow the prompts to download a PDF copy locked to your user account. You will need Adobe Acrobat installed.
View online
Click on the View Online button to view the standard in the online e-reader. No extra software is required but Google Chrome is the preferred browser. You cannot download from this view and can only print one page
No access
If the document is not available via the library subscription i2i will suggest either identical or equivalent standards from the AS collection.
