LANTITE

What is LANTITE?

What is LANTITE?

The Australian Government has introduced a Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education students (LANTITE), effective from 2016. From 1 July, 2016, Initial Teacher Education students across Australia will need to successfully meet the approved national literacy and numeracy benchmark (LANTITE) prior to completing their course. From 2024, students who are required to sit the test will need to have a test attempt (but do not have to meet the test standard) in their first year of an accredited ITE course.

LANTITE is administrated by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).  Federation University Australia does not design, administer, or complete registration for LANTITE, however we will help you get ready for the test.

Test Information

  • The Test involves two separate tests, one for Literacy and one for Numeracy
  • Each Test has 65 questions, with a mixture of multiple choice and constructed response questions
  • The two Tests can be attempted in one sitting or in separate sittings
  • A student who passes one component of the Test e.g. Literacy but not Numeracy can “bank” the passed component and will not have to sit that part of the Test again.
