FedCite / General guide to referencing

The School of Arts has different requirements for referencing. Depending on your subject you might use APA, Chicago/Turabian or MLA. Your lecturer, tutor or class teacher will let you know which style you should use. The following will help you with referencing.

Referencing in minutes

The referencing feature in QuickSearch is not always accurate, particularly for books so use with caution.

For journal articles, the referencing is usually better (not always).

Databases also provide citations. This citation is from ERIC, again they should be used with caution as they are not always accurate. In this case the capitalisation is incorrect but the rest of the citation is complete and accurate. Note: NAPLAN should stay in capital letters as it's an acronym.

Citation machine

There is an automatic referencing system called Citation Machine which will automatically generate references for you. However, the results can still contain errors, always double-check the resulting reference.
